IAAS Graduate Students selected for SEC Emerging Scholars Program

Sha'Mira Covington and Chanara Andrews-Bickers among 10 UGA students selected for the SEC Emerging Scholars Program

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) Provosts have established an emerging scholars program to provide professional development and networking opportunities for current doctoral students and a limited number of postdoctoral researchers who are considering careers in higher education. The SEC Emerging Scholars Program is meant to encourage top scholars, with attention provided to those from historically underrepresented groups, to seek out employment and mentorship in the SEC.

Ten UGA graduate students were selected for this competitive program, and the Institute for African American Studies congratulates two of its graduate certificate students, Sha’Mira Covington and Chanara Andrews-Bickers, on their acceptance to the program!
