What was your favorite AFAM course and why?
  • My favorite AFAM course was AFAM 3102 - The Modern African American Experience taught by Dr. Lee. This was my favorite course because it really challenged me to utilize sources I ordinarily would not use such as newspapers and archives at the UGA library. It was challenging but also exciting and provided me with a much more in depth understanding of the African American plight and experience throughout history as well as in modern day society.
Why should students consider a major or minor in African American Studies?
  • I think students should consider a major or minor in African American studies because the material and subject matter is extremely important and often correlates to many different areas of academia. I felt challenged by all of my AFAM professors throughout my time at UGA and am grateful to have minored in African American studies.
