Erika Massie

Erika Massie graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences from the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and a minor in African American Studies in 2018. She is a 2018 Lee B. Giles Encouragement Award recipient. She currently works as a Children's Library Assistant at Athens-Clarke County Library. Her studies especially come in handy when she plans programs and researches for patrons at the library. In her spare time, she participates in the Athens-Clarke County Library's African American Authors Book Club, local crafting groups, mentors a high school student through local nonprofit, College Factory, and volunteers as a preschool teacher at Athens Church.

Support African American Studies at UGA

The Institute defines support in diverse ways to give you as many options as possible to assist in our mission. We consider â€œfriend-raising" as important as fund-raising. Your financial contributions and support help us to develop and strengthen our programs and offerings, both on campus and in the community.

Your gift makes a big difference. Learn more about how you can donate today.

Study within African American cultural history provides a basis for understanding political, social, and economic relations throughout human history.
